Utilities for working with Bittensor amounts, addresses, signatures and transactions. The converters on this page run entirely in your browser: nothing you type is sent anywhere. The chain tools each have their own page; the ones that need the chain read its live runtime from a node, and none of them signs or sends anything.
TAO and every subnet's alpha token count in the same smallest unit, the rao: one token is 1,000,000,000 rao (109). The chain and its API report amounts in rao, so a balance of 1,500,000,000 rao is 1.5 τ.
Alpha uses the same unit; only the symbol changes from subnet to subnet. Choose a subnet to see its symbol. Root (subnet 0) is staked in TAO itself.
A Bittensor account is a 32-byte public key. Its SS58 address encodes that key with a network prefix and a checksum: Bittensor uses prefix 42 (addresses starting with 5), while a wallet set to another network shows the same key with a different prefix. Converting changes the spelling, never the account.
An EVM address (H160) on Bittensor keeps its TAO in a mirror account on the native chain, derived from the EVM address by a one-way hash. The converter shows that mirror, so you can fund an EVM wallet from a native one.
